Week 3 Round-Up of The Christmas Readathon 2025

    Books read: 1

    Prompts completed: 3 total

The third week of the readathon is behind us, and I am, as always at this point in the year, incredulous as to where the time has gone.

I only managed to read one book this week, but made huge progress with Dubliners as well. My baby is teething and opting out of sleep so we are feeling a bit worse for wear. I am at that stage of sleep deprivation where you just aren’t able to form sentences or even coherent words. Just garbled sounds, followed by “What the hell did I even just say?”. My husband on the other hand is falling asleep whenever he sits down and managed to leave our front door wide open when he went for a walk (feeling very glad to live in such a safe neighbourhood this week!). I write this as my baby stomps up and down his cot quite contentedly when he is meant to be sleeping.

The book I did manage to read this week was We Met In December by Rosie Curtis. This was a pleasant but forgettable read that I found on Libby as an audiobook. You know where it’s going; there are no surprises whatsoever. That in itself isn’t really a problem for me, but I just didn’t find much detail or depth to hold onto. There was a lot of telling not showing. Also the title is a bit deceptive as this isn’t really a Christmas book at all- now that really is a problem for me.

Cute but nothing to write home about.

This week I will be finishing Dubliners and hopefully making some more progress with Land of Milk and Honey as well.

Have a merry Christmas and I hope you get to take part in Jolabokaflod tomorrow! ๐ŸŽ…๐ŸŽ„
