Another month has flown by so it is time for another Tackling the TBR!
Last month was a mixed bag, with 1 DNF and I also didn’t get round to reading another of the books I selected- you can read my May Wrap-Up here. But I still succeeded in cutting down my TBR and since I didn’t buy too many books last month, I am calling it a success!
Life Update
In only a matter of weeks I will be making the very long car and ferry journey to Spain! It is my first time living away from my home city of Edinburgh and I have a whole lot of nerves about it all but am mostly excited for wonderful food, and having our Spanish friends and family so close by.

Given the big move, and also my PhD submission date getting ever closer, I have only set myself two books to read this month- and I’m aiming to get through both before I leave so that if I don’t like them, they can be swiftly unhauled and off to my local free library. I have already found a delightful free library in my new Spanish hometown which has English books in it, so I will definitely be checking it out there and donating books too.

The Dud Avocado by Elaine Dundy. This is a book that I heard great things about! It’s been on my TBR for absolutely ages so I’m excited to see if it’s as funny as everyone has said. I know very little about it, which is how I like to go into a book, and hope I end up loving it.

City of Girls by Elizabeth Gilbert. Another long-hauler for my TBR, this one joined in I think 2018 making it the oldest book on there! Well, no more, I am going to finally read this book. But, if I’m honest, my expectations are pretty low for this. I feel like my tastes have changed a lot since I was first interested in this book and I can foresee a potential DNF on the horizon.
Although these are the two books I have set myself to read this month, I also expect to get round to reading quite a few more books.

I was lucky enough to go to R.F Kuang’s event in Edinburgh and get a signed edition of Yellowface which I am so excited to read! Definitely a priority read for this month.

The Hero of Ages has been on my TBR for far too long but also because it is is about 750 pages! I love this series but each time I pick up one of the books it is a serious time investment.

A Perfect Cemetery is a short story collection that caught my eye and now I’m really excited to read it. I think it will be perfect for dipping in and out of during my travels.
