June Reading Wrap-Up

Written by:

If you’ve missed my last post, in June I moved to Spain! (You can read all about the journey here!) My life is a bit all over the place currently. I’m trying to get settled, I’ve just sent off my PhD thesis to my supervisors for their final read through, and am trying to learn Spanish ASAP! This will be a quick post outlining everything I read in June because I am super late writing this and I also didn’t read as much as usual.

I have however, ordered a huge stack of books which will be arriving next week, so keep an eye on my bookstagram for the biggest book haul I have every done!

June Statistics

DNF: 1

Average rating: 4.2

Vibes: Dark, reflective, funny, tense

Reading Goal: Ahead by 5 books!

Balancing the Books: So many eBooks were purchased but no physical books! Plus two read from the TBR.

Rating: 5 out of 5.

I’m a Fan by Sheena Patel. Uncomfrotable, a bit scrappy but overall thought-provoking and addictive.

Library

Rating: 3 out of 5.

The Dud Avocado by Elaine Dundy. Lost its way by the end but still a quirky, fun read.

Backlist

Rating: 5 out of 5.

The Bandit Queens by Parini Shroff. A brilliant read that had me hooked from the start. Definitely a competitor alongside Pod for the book I had hoped would win the Women’s Prize for Fiction.

Library

Rating: 3 out of 5.

Idol, Burning by Rin Usami. A quick and engaging read but actually, I’ve liked it less as time has passed. It has been quite forgettable.

Library

Rating: 5 out of 5.

Yellowface by R.F. Kuang. Truly a brilliant read that I couldn’t put down. It definitely deserves all the hype and more!
